The Fairphone 6 arrives animated by a correct snapdragon processor and a clean version of Android 15. What distinguishes it above all are its five years warranty, its seven years of updates at least, as well as software assistance and availability of spare parts for eight years. All for 496 francs.
With its snapdragon 7 s gen 3 chip, its 8 GB of RAM and its 256 GB of storage storage with a memory card up to 2GB, the Fairphone 6 promises a fluid experience for the majority of daily uses. The 6.31 inch OLED screen, protected by a Gorilla Glass 7i glass, offers a dynamic display ranging from 10 to 120 Hz, for good visual comfort.
A sustainable and reparable smartphone
Fairphone philosophy remains unchanged: offer an easily repairable device, with interchangeable modules and a shop of spare parts accessible to all. The removable battery of 4415 mAh, compatible fast charging 30 W, guarantees almost 50 hours of mixed use and can be replaced without difficulty.
On the photo side, the Fairphone 6 progresses clearly with a main sensor of 50 megapixels signed Sony, stabilized, supported by a 13 megapixel ultra-angle and a 32 megapixel selfie camera. All photo modules can be changed individually, which extends the life of the device and limits obsolescence, according to the manufacturer.
Digital software engagement
Fairphone offers a version of Android 15 without overlay or superfluous applications, for a refined and secure experience. The brand undertakes to provide at least seven major updates of the system and eight years of security corrections, a record on the market, even exceeding traditional leaders.
A function called “Fairphone Moments” makes it possible to limit access to five essential applications, promoting disconnection without cutting the phone. This digital sobriety, combined with an exemplary repairability policy, places Fairphone 6 at the top of responsible smartphones adapted to the real needs of users.
A fairer price, but concessions
Proposed at 496 francs, the Fairphone 6 is positioned below its predecessor, while offering a modernized technical sheet and better compatibility with current uses. We may regret the absence of certain on-board artificial intelligence functions, although Fairphone offers access to Google Gemini. The device is not waterproof (IP55), but withstands water projections.
It remains to be seen whether the promise of a durable and efficient device will hold over the length, even if Fairphone is still in its sixth generation! One thing is certain: the Fairphone 6 marks an important step for those who wish to combine technology, ecology and longevity, without major compromise on the user experience.
