Météo France places the Departments of the Pyrénées-Orientales, Hérault, Gard and Bouches-du-Rhône in orange heat wave for Friday.

The heat wave is not about to end. Météo France has placed four departments in the south-east of the country, including three in Occitanie, on orange heat wave for the day of Friday, June 27. The Pyrénées-Orientales, Hérault, Gard and Bouches-du-Rhône are concerned.

This scorching episode should start around 12 noon Friday in the Mediterranean periphery with temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees, locally 39 degrees or more inside the land. “The night from Friday to Saturday will be very hot and stifling. The maximums on Saturday are generally close to 37 to 39 degrees,” warns Météo France.

This new episode of heat, described as “early” by meteorological service, should also last and extend to the center and the north of the country. An extension of the orange alert to other departments could therefore be announced in the coming days. Météo France thus recommends “keeping yourself informed of the next cards and vigilance bulletins”.
