The planetarium organizes trips to the stars without leaving Montreal

As it is Summer -the exploration seasonlong hikes in the mountains, trips to the Greek islands, walks to get lost in town until the soles of the Gougounes found- We decided to turn to the last border: the stars.

Obviously, we can very just lie in the grass in a park and look up at the Perseids (our best view from Montreal, from this rain of shooting stars will be on the night of August 11 to 12). We could also just watch films (more or less scary, between Alien et Gravity?) Or zoom in on the photos posted by NASA, But there is an almost childish feeling of seeing the starry sky nearby in fact…

Fortunately, The Montreal Planetarium organizes free sky observation evenings With explanations of astronomical phenomena and more activities, from August 11, 2025 to April 26, 2026.

Telescopes meetings

We think that in town, we do not see the stars -which satellites– But if we know where to look at you can see much more from the sky than you think. This is why the planetarium will offer these free evenings where We can observe the stars and celestial events visible in the Montreal sky.

We can also Learn more about the sky -A new hobby that can replace where is added to an obsession with astrology, perhaps?

Each Telescope meeting will be on the theme of the celestial event to observe that eveningwith a session ofObservation with a telescope and a show animated by the planetarium team every 30 minutes to have All the secrets of the stars (in English and French).

There will also be A Children’s Manufacturing Activityone of the simplest and oldest instruments in the world -to know the sky and recognize its stars.

Celestial events of the coming months

The next Celestial meeting Note in our agenda will be;

  • 11 There 12 AOût – Personal : Admire a spectacular meteor rain
  • October 4 – Moon : an object of fascination before, to observe closely
  • December 13 – Geminids : Enjoy this meteor rain even more spectacular than the Perseids
  • February 14 – Jupiter and Orion : a winter duo not to be missed! Observe Jupiter shining near the majestic constellation of Orion
  • March 20 – Equinox : celebrate this moment of balance when day and night share the sky
  • April 25 – Take out your telescopes : Take advantage of the spring sky to learn to master your telescope with amateur astronomers

We note that there is an aura of date very present in Telescopes appointment, With the very simple (and efficient?) “Your father stole the stars of the sky to put them in your eyes”a space to lie in the grass and look at the sky in the planetarium and an observation evening of Jupiter and Orion on February 14 …
