A colonel of the Swiss army was recalled from his post abroad. According to the SRF German radio, he is accused of having transmitted information to Russia in the summer of 2024.

The man worked at the Swiss delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna, adds the SRF. The Federal Department of Defense (DDPS) confirmed to Keystone-ATS that the officer had been recalled in Switzerland at the end of last year.
He did not want to give indications on the accusations brought against the colonel, for reasons of personality protection. Military justice has opened an investigation.
According to her, this is an investigation in addition to evidence. This is not directed against a particular person but aims to clarify the facts. A military criminal procedure will only be opened if it results in “a sufficient suspicion of a significant punishable behavior,” she explained.
Military justice has not been able to give additional information due to the secrecy of the investigation. According to the SRF, the surveillance authority for the Confederation Intelligence Service (SRC) and the delegation of federal chambers management commissions also look at the file.
