Heat records broken on Sunday in Quebec

The extreme heat of Sunday was such that temperature records have been broken in several regions of Quebec, according to preliminary data from Environment Canada published on Sunday.

In Montreal (Dorval), the Mercury climbed up to 34.4 ° C, eclipstating the old record of 32.8 ° C established in 1944. Rimouski also experienced unprecedented heat with 33.2 ° C, surpassing the previous record of 30.6 ° C dating from 1995.

In Roberval, Mercury reached 33.5 ° C, exceeding an old record of 32.8 ° C in 1914. The temperature in Val-d’Or reached 32.4 ° C, exceeding its record of 31.1 ° C established in 1970, while Chibougamau experienced 30.9 ° C, just beating the 30 ° C recorded in 1970.

Beauceville also saw its old record eclipse, with a temperature of 32.3 ° C against 31.7 ° C in 1920.

The heat wave that Quebec will currently know on Monday and Tuesday, with maximums that could reach 35 ° C in southern Quebec.
