There is a new supercar with an atmospheric V12

Everywhere, it is a flowering of electric sports cars, to the disproportionate hypercars of several thousand horses, all silent on the ground. Choices still unconvincing and on which the manufacturers backtrack. Because if a battery city car can do the trick, when you go up on Olympus of performance, the sound (the real) plays a fundamental role.

So when you are in front, for the moment only virtually, a car like the GP1 of the English company Garagisti & Co. A smile appears on your face. Because it is a new supercar powered by an atmospheric V12, associated with a manual gearbox and a rear propulsion. A car for purists who only exists to “do the act of driving without filter”, says the manufacturer. We believe it.

The beating heart

We will talk about aesthetics later, but we must now focus on what really matters: the engine. A whole new atmospheric V12 of 6.6 liters developed by Italtecnica SRL, an Italian specialist renowned for motorsport. The figures indicate that it develops 800 hp at 9,000 rpm and that its torque exceeds 700 Nm. All without electrification or turbocharger.

All this is transmitted to the rear wheels through an XTRAC manual gearbox with 6 -speed longitudinally, “which offers unrivaled tactility and involvement,” says Garagisti & Co. The weight is only 1,000 kg.

Mechanics benefits from the collaboration of excellence such as Brembo, Öhlins and other suppliers deeply rooted not only in road cars but also in motor sport.

Fascinating and functional

A work of art which puts in motion forms which, in the words of the company, are “a celebration of the form, mixing elements of the golden age of the design of the hold”. The lines were traced by Angel Guerra, former designer of Bugatti and Rimac, and are inspired by sacred monsters such as the Lancia Stratos Zero, the Lamborghini Countach and other masterpieces designed by Marcello Gandini.

The tense lines give birth to an aerodynamics studied in the smallest detail, as one of the largest diffusers ever mounted on a road car. Above, four exhaust pots with more than generous dimensions, flanked by LED lighting groups with X design.

Simple beauty

The interior of the GP1 is minimal and is spent on super-ecrans, touch controls or anything else. Between the two seats is a large central tunnel with physical buttons and the gear lever, and “everything is placed exactly where it is necessary”. A design that follows Guerra’s saying: “Just you, the car and the road”.

No expense has been spared

The Garagisti & Co. GP1 is currently at an advanced design and production stage and will be ready in the coming months. Interested people will have to hurry: production will be limited to only 25 units, which will be sold at a price of 2.45 million pounds sterling (around 2.82 million euros), excluding taxes, shipping and personalization costs.

The first 12 customers will then have access to the Open Doors program in Garagisti, which will allow them to meet the engineers and designers who give life to GP1.
