There is “emergency” for the FCPE. Faced with scorching temperatures, the association of parents of students requests the Minister of Education Élisabeth Borne to give, “clear instructions” to the staff of educational establishments in order to adapt the reception of students.
According to the school building, transport, the presence of trees or fresh premises, “concrete solutions must be implemented”, “in consultation” with the representatives of the parents of students and the local elected officials, argues the FCPE. “We have even much stronger temperatures than these last days expected for Monday and Tuesday, up to 41 ° C”, during the last week of class of primary students, explains Grégoire Ensell, vice-president of the FCPE, interviewed by AFP.
In the park or in a multipurpose room
Believing that a large part of the school buildings “is unsuitable” to hot weather, Grégoire together requests “to give teams clear instructions so that during the last days of school they can adapt, use a multipurpose room of the available town, prioritize a visit, go to the park …”.
The parents’ association “pleads in particular for a rethought school building in the face of climate change,” said its press release. A heat wave is raging in France and in southern Europe with temperatures that should exceed 40 degrees in several regions.
