The current heat wave episode since Friday continues. Red vigilance remains of vigor and extends to other departments, Tuesday August 12. In its new bulletin published Monday August 11 at 4 p.m., Météo-France placed 14 departments of the South on red vigilance from Tuesday noon.
The Rhône, Isère, Drôme and Ardèche join the departments already placed in red vigilance, while Charente and Charente-Maritime will be demoted to orange at 6 am on Tuesday. Red vigilance, the highest, corresponds to a heat wave “extreme, exceptional by its duration, its intensity, its geographic extension”with a strong impact for health and human activities.
Orange vigilance concerns 64 departments from Tuesday noon, the Vendée reappearing on its side in green vigilance. Only nine departments remain in yellow and eight in green in the northwest quarter.
