Vehicle flight, prosecution and serious accident in Louiseville

The suspect’s sport utility vehicle would have caught fire shortly after the frontal collision. However, the police would have taken care to put the driver in a state of arrest on the spot. They had taken the hunting driver from Highway 40.

As SQ police officers are involved, the independent investigation office (BEI) has been dispatched on the spot to shed light on events. As for the criminal investigation concerning the suspect, it was entrusted to the police service in the City of Montreal (SPVM).

“It is the investigators of the major crimes section that are on site, but there are also technicians in a judicial identity and a reconstructionist in collision scene,” explains Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal police force.

“What we can tell you is that we are currently working on a vehicle flight, which followed a police pursuit which was canceled and which ended up in collision involving two vehicles.”

Debris littered the ground on Saint-Laurent avenue for several tens of meters on Saturday morning.

According to witnesses to the scene encountered on the spot, it seems that the faulty driver, a young man, was rolling at very high speed on Saint-Laurent avenue in west, “around 150 km/h”. It was then that he had hit the vehicle driven by a woman head on.

According to the BEI, it is a call at 911 for the theft of a vehicle that started the prosecution, after a police officer saw the vehicle circulating in the direction of Louiseville on route 138 from highway 40 west.

A violent face-to-face occurred on Saturday morning, in the city center of Louiseville.

By way of press release, the office stresses that the two drivers would have undergone serious injuries and have been transported to a hospital center, where their condition is deemed “serious”.

Avenue Saint-Laurent was closed during a good part of the day on Saturday to allow investigators to shed light on events.

A building housing several trade, including a new Look eyewear branch, was slightly damaged during the collision.
