Israel rejects the accusations of hindrance to humanitarian aid: “a disinformation campaign”

Many actors around the world continue to disseminate lies on Israel’s activities in Gaza: more than one hundred international organizations have signed a document accusing Israel on Thursday of blocking humanitarian aid to Palestinian territory for months. The coordinator of government activities in the territories (COGAT) strongly challenged these allegations, denouncing a “disinformation campaign”.

NGO accusations

According to the accusing document disseminated to international media, Israel has rejected dozens of requests for aid transport on the pretext that organizations “were not authorized” to operate. Millions of dollars in humanitarian aid – food, medicines, water and emergency equipment – would thus be blocked in warehouses in Jordan, Egypt and Ashdod.

The organizations point to the new recording mechanism established in March, which notably requires the transmission of lists of Palestinian employees for security verification. They denounce “illegal” requirements that would endanger the security of the teams and compromise the independence of humanitarian organizations.

Israeli defense

The COGAT firmly denied these accusations in a statement, saying that “Israel is working to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza, while Hamas tries to exploit this aid to strengthen militarily”. The Israeli authorities introduced new requirements in March 2025, forcing international NGOs to share sensitive personal information about their Palestinian employees.

According to official explanations, this mechanism aims to “guarantee that aid reaches the population directly and not in Hamas”. The recording process, presented as “transparent and clear”, would have been communicated to all organizations upstream.

Two contradictory versions

The Israeli authorities underline that twenty organizations that have respected the registration procedure continue to transport aid regularly. Some 300 humanitarian aid trucks would enter Gaza daily via these organizations in accordance with the new system.

The COGAT says that the refusal of certain NGOs to share the required information “raises real concerns about the purity of their intentions and to possible links with Hamas”.

The Israeli authorities call for recalcitrant organizations to “act with transparency, to complete their recording and guarantee that the aid reaches residents and not in Hamas”.
