(Montreal) The 19-year-old man who was injured on Friday evening in the Montreal-North district died of his injuries.
The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) confirms that this is 18e Murder to occur in its territory since the start of the year and that the investigation was entrusted to the SPVM’s major crimes section.
The police were called upon to go on Friday, around 9:15 p.m., near the intersection between boulevard Maurice-Duplessis and avenue Matte for a person affected by at least one projectile of firearm.
On the spot, they found the victim on the ground, explained Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
The young man, injured by bullet at the upper body, was in critical condition during his transport to a hospital center, where he died of his injuries during the night.
According to initial information, a suspect drew towards the victim when he was on a vehicle. The suspect fled on foot before the police arrived.
No arrest was yet carried out on Saturday morning, said the Chèvrefils agent.
A security perimeter has been set up to protect the scene for investigators and technicians in judicial identity. Witnesses of the event were also encountered by police officers.
