A man is accused of having produced, used and sold with false parking thumbnails of the City of Montreal, between December 2023 and September 2024.
An investigation by the Commissioner for the Fight against Corruption, launched after a denunciation of the City Controller of the City of Montreal, led to accusations against Michael B. Desmarais.
Mr. Desmarais would have operated an illegal production of counterfeit parking stickers, selling them to customers against remuneration, according to the press release from the Commissioner for the Fight against Corruption on Thursday.
These activities would have deprived legitimate holders of their reserved spaces.
Six counts were filed against Mr. Desmarais, relating to the production of false documents as well as the employment, possession or traffic of counterfeit documents.
A search of his home allowed the seizure of a sum of money and equipment linked to the alleged offenses.
The defendant is to appear on September 15 at the Longueuil courthouse.
