For this event, no real fights or clashes between the various participants, but choreographies mounted from scratch, throughout the year. “We are preparing music, costumes, make-up, the story and the occupation of the scene ourselves. Then, we have imposed figures which report more or less points depending on the difficulty of execution, ”explains Mickaël Dassas, the master of arms and founder of the club.

Only club in France
To lead his troops to victory, he can count on the help of a choreographer, a professional stuntman, actors and teachers graduated from the French Fencing Federation. Together, they form nearly 90 members, as many children from 5 years as adults, three areas: medieval fencing, musketeer fencing and lightsaber. According to the master of arms, it would be the only Academy of France to offer only these three artistic disciplines, at any age. “Most of the other clubs also offer sports fencing. »»

Among the different lessons, it is the lightsaber that has distinguished itself. Nolan Guiocheau, Luna Guiocheau, Kéoni Dassas, Ethan Charbonnel and Louis Texier obtained the gold medal in battle (more than three people), Mathilde Rey-Gomez and Hugo Doublon received the same distinction in duel, all in the M17 category (under 17). “All year round we actively worked on the project, so that it was beautiful and appreciated by jurors. This is the culmination of eight years of artistic fencing so it is really something incredible, ”says Louis Texier.
“Make shows”
All have been practicing for eight years. Most started with sport fencing, as is their master of arms who has long had the status of high -level sportsman. Today, they compare themselves more to actors. “Originally, our goal was to make shows. There, we did a competition but at the base, it is really for people to see us. Artistic fencing is mainly used in the world of cinema ”, recognizes Luna Guiocheau.
Although everything is staged, weapons must be approved. Sabers lasers must fulfill sizes and weight conditions. They are verified before each competition.
The club’s headquarters are located in Notre-Dame-de-Sanilhac (commune of Sanilhac), but courses are also given in Antonne-et-Trigonant, Savignac-les-Églises, Sarliac-sur-l’Isle and Bourdeilles.
