Trump-Puttine meeting: “Mayo tuna left outside during the night”, camp beds without sheets … Russian journalists denounce a “sacrificed” welcome in Alaska

Russian journalists regretted the conditions in which they were welcomed in Anchorage, especially during their first night, that of Thursday, before the meeting between the presidents Putin and Trump on Friday.

Russian journalists complained about the treatment that was reserved for them in Anchorage in Alaska, before the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump this Friday, August 15.

They notably regretted having slept on camp beds without sheets, installed in the Alaska Airline Center sports grounds in Anchorage, where they could barely make phone calls.

They also complained about their meal and the lack of water bottles.

“After being assigned for the night of Thursday to what seemed to be an evacuation zone in the event of a disaster, Russian journalists were entitled to a breakfast made up of Thon Mayo left out during the night, fries and unlimited water supply (coming from a tap). The sacrifices of last-minute diplomacy”, wrote on X Margarita Simonyan Head of the Russian State media RT.

But according to the New York Postcriticisms say that Russia was “at least in part responsible for what its journalists consider a situation close to that of the Third World”.

Indeed, Russia brought about 50 of its own reporters to cover the event.

According to a security source, there was not enough time to get enough accommodation for this summit, quickly planned.

American journalists would not have obtained hotel rooms in the largest city in Alaska.

However, the situation was improved on Friday, images showing Russian journalists receiving wrapped snacks and drinks.
