The United States would have proposed a security guarantee inspired by article 5 on Saturday of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO), but without formal membership on Saturday, but without a diplomatic source that requested anonymity to the France-Presse Agency (AFP). For the moment, this is discussions whose contours remain vague.

Article 5 of the NATO Treaty poses the principle of mutual defense: if a member country is attacked, all the others are used.
Another source aware of the file, also expressed under the cover of anonymity, confirmed to AFP that the idea of protection inspired by that of NATO had been mentioned during the call on Saturday.
