The Sevillan will be at the Cartel of the Closing bullfight, this Sunday, August 17, at 18, facing the toros of Salamanca. He will do the Paseo with Sébastien Castella and Miguel Angel Perera. It will be his first Paseo in Béziers.
What does a first PASEO in Béziers mean for you?
It is a Plaza with a special atmosphere and a unique category in France. I am very motivated for this bullfight because it is important for a bullfighter to be in the cartel of this feria. Especially since I was already scheduled last year but, unfortunately, bullfight was canceled with the rain.
Why accept to come to Béziers against toros as hard as the Pedraza?
It is a very prestigious cartel with two figuras like Sébastien Castella and Miguel Angel Perera. Two maestros that I have always admired and referents since I wanted to become a bullfighter. Making Paseo in Béziers with them, facing a farm in a big moment like Pedraza of Yeltes, is a very important challenge to enter all French ferias with force in 2026.
Is it a pride to have been appointed number one in the 2024 season?
It is an extraordinary distinction which designates the triumph of the temporada. This is all the more satisfaction since there is currently a large number of Toreo figuras which evolve at a very high level. Winning this award is a satisfaction because it is very prestigious. Having my name at the same list that so many great bullfighters is a reward for my efforts for years.
You have become the Madrid bullfighter with a new triumph last June …
It was my third big door in Las Ventas, just three years after having confirmed my alternative. Triumphing in Madrid is always a unique and very important moment. It is the arena that positions you in the category of figuras and each success generates a strong repercussion. Las Ventas is the arena which has relaunched my career and which now consolidates my place in the big ferias.
What are the other important bullfights this year?
I strengthened the 2025 temporada with two ears from a Toro de Jandilla in Seville forcefully. Then there were the three Paseos in Madrid with one ear in front of the Jandilla then two against the Victorino Martin. Almost every bullfight, I have experienced important moments with triumph outings in many ferias. I am happy with this first half of the season.
Was the Nîmes solo the disappointment of this year 2025?
When you raise important challenges, things can go well and, sometimes things don’t work. This is part of the game and, unfortunately, the bullfight of Victorino Martin was badly released in Nîmes. We learn a lot from his disappointments. Two days later, I triumphed in Las Ventas against the same toros. I hope to return very quickly to Nîmes to obtain the hoped for triumph.
