Serbia concludes a record contract of $ 1.63 billion with Elbit Systems

Serbia has signed a major contract with the Israeli group Elbit Systems, worth $ 1.63 billion, to equip its army with a wide range of advanced armaments systems. The agreement, one of the most important never concluded by the company in Europe, aims to strengthen Belgrade’s operational capacities in the context of the accelerated modernization of its armed forces.

According to sources of defense cited by the economic media Calcalistthe Serbian Defense Ministry intends to significantly improve its military potential, in a regional context marked by tensions and by the war in Ukraine, now in its fourth year.

The contract relates in particular to the supply of hermes 900 drones, the most imposing device in the Elbit range, already used by several armies in the world. It also includes long -range precision rockets, electronic war systems as well as command and control platforms intended to optimize the management of operations in the field.


Elbit Systems, controlled by the businessman Mikey Fdermann, announced last week this agreement of several years on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, without revealing the identity of the buyer country, invoking a confidentiality clause requested by the customer. The information has since been confirmed by sources close to the file.

Questioned, the Israeli defense company refused to comment on the revelations.

This mega-contract comes when Elbit Systems published solid financial results for the second quarter of 2025: turnover reached $ 1.97 billion, up more than 21 % compared to last year, and net profit jumped more than 60 %.

With this strategic partnership, Serbia affirms its desire to join the Circle of modernized European armies, based on Israeli technology to increase its power of deterrence and its capacity for reaction to regional threats.
