How is Trump’s customs tariffs

In terms of mobility, Canada and the USA are almost twins. In other words, the automotive landscape is identical on both sides of the border, populated by large SUVs and other pick-ups of “big three”, or even models of European and Asian brands, produced on and for the American continent. Logic, therefore, that the biggest importer of “Made in USA” cars be Canada. But that was before. Before Trump decides to protect the industry of his country by imposing customs taxes on everything that comes from outside. Taxes more often decided in the light of any rivalry than on the basis of a semblance of common sense, since the most penalized countries are the most direct partners: Canada and Mexico.

Across the United States

Mexico … There, as in Canada, are installed many automotive factories, including American brands. Thus, Canada, to avoid as much as possible trade relations with its neighbor (personified by its unbearable president), therefore bought its cars from Mexico now. For the first time in thirty years, the country imported more “Mexican” cars in June ($ 1.08 billion Canadian) than cars produced in the USA ($ 950 million Canadian). The situation could of course be only temporary, but it shows that Donald is not necessarily the great negotiator he prides himself on being.
