What does this agreement mean concretely for Air Canada passengers? The vice-president of corporate communications of the company, Christophe Hennebelle explained himself in an interview with Noovo Info.
At first glance, Mr. Hennebelle warns that one should not expect a return to normal instantaneous. One might have to wait between seven and 10 days before the operations resume their normal course. “Restarting a network like that of Air Canada is an extremely complex task. We must make sure to reposition the planes and crews in the right places. You can’t just press a button so that it leaves, ”he says.
167 flights will nevertheless be able to operate on Tuesday evening. However, this means that 532 flights cannot take place.
“We will respect the law”
Mr. Hennebelle assures that Air Canada “will respect the law” and that passengers whose flights have been canceled will be reimbursed or will receive a credit for a subsequent trip.

During the strike, around 25,000 passengers per day were to use Air Canada planes that were to return to the country. Mr. Hennebelle specifies that tens of thousands of them were able to take other planes to return. No exact figures have yet been issued for passengers who are still blocked outside the country.
“We’re really sorry. We understand very well the impact it can have for them and we apologize to them. It will be a priority to allow these people to return to destination, ”says Christophe Hennebelle.
