A new arrest warrant was issued against Omar Govers alias “Patje Haemers”, one of the most notorious drug criminals in Antwerp and his accomplice Mounir El Bartali, again sentenced to heavy prison terms. They have been on the run for years in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates and Tangier, Morocco.
The Antwerp court inflicted a heavy prison sentence on Omar Govers alias “Patje Haemers”, and to his accomplice Mounir El Bartali alias “Gino”. The first received a sentence of 10 years in prison and while the second was sentenced to 12 years in prison. They are behind the introduction in 2020 of three important cargoes of cocaine – representing hundreds of pounds each time (850 kilograms of cocaine and 300 kilos) – in the port of Antwerp using the so -called “switch” method. This consists in transferring the drugs with South American containers to European containers in order to bypass the controls.

These two drug traffickers have been on the run for years in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates and Tangier, Morocco. The court also ordered the confiscation of 6 million euros in criminal profits. After the new conviction, Govers and El Bartali total 53 years in prison and 49 years in prison respectively. They are both targeted by a new arrest warrant.

Naoufel A., Refrigeration technician at the Port Company Medrepair, key man of an operation which failed and allowed customs to seize a significant goods (191 kilos out of a total of 766 kilos of cocaine in a container) was sentenced to a slight sentence: 5 years in prison. The co -accused Illias El H. was sentenced to 6 years in prison. The other defendants were sentenced to sentences up to 4 years.
