Italian percussionist Valentina Magaletti
The Italian drummer established in London Valentina Magaletti has collaborated over the years with many groups and artists – from Philip Selway (Radiohead) to Raime, via Nicolas Jaar or Vanishing Twin. During her visit to Montreal, she will present her solo project Tuesday evening at the quiet esplanade, Experience 1 ; A duo with the Dutch DJ Upsammy (Thessa Thorsing) at the Nocturne 1 (Wednesday at SAT); And a performance with the Trio of English Music Dub Holy Tongue Friday at SAT. This is the “centerpiece” of Mutek’s programming, and, specifies Marie-Laure Saidani, she does not travel with Air Canada (!).

The Ecuadorian DJ Nicola Cruz
The Ecuadorian artist Nicola Cruz, who has a particular affection for analog synthesizers, is a regular of Mutek. He will present a free DJ set during theExperience 1Tuesday evening at the quiet esplanade. He will also be at Mtelus on Saturday with a House and Dub-Techno program with Ramzi, Hodge, Satoshi Tomiie and Cassy. Nicola Cruz will finally be in duet with the South Korean artist Machìna. Their collaboration, called Kaiwa, will be presented during the Nocturne 5 (Sunday at SAT). This project will notably highlight Machìna’s crystal voice.

The Montreal artist of Haitian origin gayance
No one is a prophet in his country. The Montreal artist of Haitian origin Gayance knows something about it. It is indeed in Lisbon, Portugal, that the DJ and producer flourished and made known. Passing through Montreal, she will present her new album Roamingwhich merges the house, jazz, R&B and Brazilian rhythms. Aïsha Virtues will be accompanied on stage with seven Montreal musicians. The platingist, composer and producer of the London electro scene Niknak stood out last year with the release of her album Hope. An electronic experiments disc that creates cinematographic sound landscapes. “As it is a turntablistit is someone who is interesting to see playing, because it is more physical than with the machines, ”says Marie-Laure Saidani, who specifies that the English artist will share the scene with the prolific producer Kenyan Slikback-now established in Poland. It’s a Canadian first and it takes place on Saturday evening at SAT.

Canadian DJ Cleo Leigh
Cleo Leigh, a native Canadian DJ of St. John’s, in Newfoundland, became known thanks to his “incisive and refined” techno, according to Mutek programmers. “Those who like to dance to techno music will want to see her,” illustrates Marie-Laure Saidani. Shauna Gilpin, of his real name, who performs her performance live From modular synthesizers, present Romance by designa program inspired by the architecture of Mario Botta. The artist co -founded clubs Lavi seks et Stampedas well as the Selenium event series, in St. John’s, where she has contributed since 2018 to boost the electro scene.
