Sexual contacts: 9 years in prison claimed for sexual crimes on her daughter for 6 years

The crown demands a severe sentence of nine years in prison to punish a father of boiler-appetizers who engaged in sexual touching on her own daughter when she was between 4 and 10 years old, in addition to similar gestures on the child of a close friend.

“In the case that occupies us, it is a question of a father who betrayed for six years the most fundamental confidence there, who is the confidence between a father and his daughter,” argued Mr.e Anne-FrĂ©dĂ©rique COULOMBE, Tuesday, at the Quebec courthouse.

Completely in contrast, the defense demands a sentence of three and a half years of detention.

The accused began to attack her daughter when she was only four years old. During the first event she remembered, she played a board game with her father when he started touching her private parts.

Repeatedly

More than a dozen times, she mentions that her father asked her to come to her room. He then engaged in touching on her, or he asked her to masturbate him. Events sometimes ended because it ejaculated.

Fear of ending up alone with his father, isolation, invasive thoughts, depressive symptoms: the teenager suffered enormously from events and even expressed the wish to change his family name, according to a declaration which was read by Me Coulombe.

On some occasions, the accused showed him a pornographic video. He also admitted to having rubbed his penis on the genitals of his daughter a few times.

In December 2024, the man recognized his guilt with charges of sexual contact, of incitement to sexual contacts and to have made accessible to a child of explicit equipment.

Second victim

To complete the portrait, he also pleaded guilty to sexual contacts on the daughter of a close friend, in connection with two events, the first when she was also four years old.

His lawyer, Me StĂ©phanie Pelletier Quirion, argued that her client had recognized his wrongs and that he was working on himself. This is a “complex” file and the accused lived a difficult childhood, she raised.

Menotté, the accused read a letter addressed to his daughter to apologize.

In response to questions from the prosecution, he argued that he felt “abandoned” and “left aside” and that he did not know “how to get help”.

“It’s not because I am attracted to children. This is because the children made me feel good, those, especially, and made me feel safe, “he argued.

Justice Thomas Jacques will render his decision on the sentence in October.
