Customs prices: Home Depot warns consumers of upcoming price increases

After claiming the opposite a few weeks ago, Home Depot’s management said this morning that certain products may undergo slight price increases due to customs tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.

The large retailer of the construction and renovation sector maintained its annual intact forecasts on Tuesday despite quarterly semi-maintenance results, reports the reuters news agency this morning.

The largest American channel in the sector is focusing that customers will continue to spend on less scale maintenance projects and that the demand for professional entrepreneurs will remain strong during the second half of the year.

However, it is less obvious to know when the American real estate market, which is in neutral, and the major renovation works which require funding will start to recover.

Increases on imports

Home Depot said consumers should expect modest price increases for certain imported products that are currently the subject of higher customs tariffs than it had in May, when the company has declared that it “would generally maintain” its prices, but that some items could disappear from the shelves.

“There will be a modest price movement in certain categories, but it will not be generalized,” said financial director Richard McPhail at a conference on Tuesday.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the markets reacted well to the results of Home Depot. Shortly after 12:30 p.m., the action of the retailer was negotiated at US $ 407.06, up 3.13% compared to the closure of the day before.

At the same time, the action of Lowe’s, his rival, increased by 2.17%.
