A 105 -room hotel complex is in the process of taking place in the Health district, in the Fleurimont sector, in Sherbrooke.
The Laroche and Activar Hotels group are at the head of this project. They also count on the aid of six investors in the region.
The hotel park in Sherbrooke is very good, especially in the city center. I don’t consider [le projet] As being a direct competition, we are rather complementary to this offer. I think our direct competition is rather Airbnb.
It is a thoughtful concept to attract a diversified clientele for short, but above all long-term stays, he adds. The rooms will all be fitted with a kitchenette.
Target clientele
- CHUS university employees and students
- Families of hospitalized patients
- Homeless people (construction, move or claim)
- Sherbrooke sports teams
- Transit travelers
Mathieu Mault is of the opinion that this hotel complex will stimulate the economy in the neighborhood and that the ten shops already located in the sector will be able to benefit from it.
The area of the rooms would oscillate by 310 and 350 square feet.

A welcome project in the sector
The municipal councilor of the Quatre-Saisons district, Joanie Bellerose, welcomes this project favorably.
It is a project that has been eagerly awaited by people for a long time. We can think for example of people who are awaiting an operation, treatment at the health center or even their family.
The project must first be presented to the Sherbrooke central urban planning advisory committee on Thursday. The municipal council must then give its approval there.
