The second child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde celebrates his 22ᵉ anniversary this August 20. Born in 2003 in Anderlecht, Prince Gabriel occupied second place in the order of succession to the throne, just behind her older sister, Princess Heiress Elisabeth. If it is called one day to reign, he should be able to count on serious preparation: since 2022, he has followed his training in social sciences and military at the Royal Military School and currently completed an exchange at the Academy of Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan, in France.
Beyond its academic and military course, Gabriel embodies a new princely generation called to find a balance between institutional and personal life duties. The young man is recognized for his taste for sport – tennis, skiing, sailing, or his nine years spent on hockey terrain in Brussels. But he is also engaged in the social field, having multiplied volunteer initiatives, especially with isolated elderly people during the health crisis. At 22, the prince thus built an identity made of rigor, solidarity and discretion.
