Vanessa Matz assures that “Belgium stands alongside France in this fight for a safer, healthier internet”. “European rules exist: they must be applied with all the necessary rigor. I have made one of my priorities to protect each and each in public space, and will make every effort to achieve this, in particular via the end of online anonymity or by the strict application of European laws.”
The Belgian Minister refers to the European Digital Services Act. The DSA is a European regulation which obliges the actors to set up effective mechanisms to report and quickly withdraw illicit content, whether it be hateful, violent words, terrorist propaganda, sexual abuse on minors or counterfeiting.
