A 28-year-old man, suspected of having murdered his father to Houthalen-Helchteren, was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention by Hasselt’s investigating judge, the Limburg prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday. The facts took place last Wednesday.
On the evening of August 13, the Carma police area (Genk, AS, Oudsbergen, Zutendaal, Houthalen-Helchteren, Bree, Bocholt, Kinrooi) received a call reporting that a man had fallen on the stairs. On the spot, they found that the victim, a 60 -year -old man, had died. A descent of the scientific laboratory of the judicial police as well as a medical examiner were ordered by the prosecution in order to determine the circumstances of the death.
The victim’s son, 28, from Houthalen-Helchteren, was taken to be questioned and presented to the investigating judge. The latter decided to place it under arrest warrant for suspicion of assassination.
On Tuesday, the council chamber confirmed the arrest of the suspect. The judicial investigation is still underway.
