The Bible and the 2020 “Stolen” election on the Oklahoma public school program

Donald Trump has not lost the election against Joe Biden and the Bible must be taught in all public schools in the Oklahoma Republican State. This is what Ryan Walters, Superintendent of Public Instruction insists, insists. As of next September, these two elements will be added to the school program of more than 700,000 students.

Erica Watkin, a native of the state of Oklahoma, walks with her two sons of 5 and 7 years old in one of the magnificent parks of Tulsa, and she has big on her heart.

I will not let them silence me, even if they do everything for that.

Ilsit is the Republicans of this very conservative state who, according to her, are in the process of modeling public education around their religious and political beliefs.

I am terrified, if I have one day that I have to move, I will do it, but in the meantime, I will fight.

What terrifies it is this new school program for social studies which aims all the public schools of the State, or more than 700,000 students from the prematernel until the end of secondary school. He will be taught next September, and some of his subjects bristle Erica Watkins at the highest point.

There are more than 40 references to the Bible which were not included in the previous programs, and it is a lotshe said.

We know that it is supposed to have a separation between the Church and the State, but they try to rewrite history by making us believe that this country is supposed to be governed by biblical principles.

A quote from Erica Watkins

This new school program was set up by the OKLAHOMA public education manager Ryan Walters, a republican, a big supporter of Donald Trump. He recently decided to make the Bible compulsory in all classes, and the teaching of the precepts of the Saint Book in all schools.

Faced with the turmoil caused by the faculty but also by shocked parents, he qualified the association of teachers of the state of terrorist organization. He even sent a video of him to all the schools where we see him prayed for Donald Trump.

The “big lie” on the menu of the official program

But, in addition to the compulsory Bible, Ryan Walters has imposed a new subject that could not be more controversial in the school program. As of September, the secondary school faculty will have to teach the theory of the stolen election of 2020, the famous great lie according to which Donald Trump indeed won against Joe Biden.

What we have in the program are facts and we want students with a critical spiritexplique Ryan Walters. We want them to examine the data, the statistics and that they reach their own conclusions.

Erica Watkins still can’t believe it.

We treat a conspiracy theory as if it were an objective fact, it should not be taught as if it were an opinion that we should examine, not to mention it to the school program, it is very worrying.

A quote from Erica Watkins

She is not the only catastrophy by this subject taught soon. Program headboard to the National Association of Electoral Officers, Tammy Patrick is also indignant at this new approach.

All this implies the idea that we had an illegitimate presidentshe said, or that the election did not take place correctly. The elements presented supposedly as proof and which have been more than 60 times in short are part of a dangerous thesis which does not stand up, according to her.

They speak of “the massive arrival of bulletins” and this kind of thing, as if it were something that we should really questionthis Tammy Patrick and Fulminant.

The truth is that our elections professionals work in the middle of the night to ensure that each eligible voice is counted, so it is not an anomaly, but a common practice which consists in updating in the middle of the night, because we have very diligent and devoted electoral professionals.

In addition to the Bible and the presumed rigged election, Ryan Walters also includes the thesis presented as proven that a Chinese laboratory is the source of the COVVI-19 virus. He also wanted to erase the George Floyd affair from the social science program and the movement Black Lives Matters.

Truncated electoral participation

In a state where 66 % of voters voted for Donald Trump, Democratic Senator Mary Boren, who sits at the Oklahoma Capitol, wishes to put the few shields raised against these kinds of measures that affect education.

There are only 50 % of eligible voters who are registered, and on these 50 %, only a third or half of the voters vote in a presidential election. She calculates that 75 % of them do not participate in these decisions and do not ask government accounts. It is fair to say that government decisions do not necessarily reflect the desires or wishes of the average person, they more reflect those of people accustomed to holding power.

The teaching of the supposed stolen election of 2020 is likely to perpetuate a damaging falsehood for American democracy.

Many children from Oklahoma and their families knew nothing about the insurrection, or were simply deprived of their right to know and were alienated by all this storydeplores the senator. Those who look Fox News Permanently, and who believe it hard as iron, may be more affirmative when it comes to explaining why they think that the election has been stolen.

That said, she believes that there will be in each school and each region of the state of people who will oppose this idea.

“Republican cronyism”

In addition to the problem of the big lie, Mary Boren believes that it is also a big cous affair because changing the school program to register these controversial subjects will cost $ 33 million in the state and this smells of collusion, she said.

One of the potential publishers of textbooks was part of the committee responsible for deciding what the manual had to include, which is very practical if you want to earn a lot of moneyshe explains. We write standards according to its product. Slipping cronyism which concerns it enormously.

These changes drew the attention of the former Oklahoma Attorney General, the Republican Mike Hunter. Last month, representative of parents and teachers, he brought a prosecution to invalidate new social studies standards.

In summary, he says, the state board of directors of the State has violated its own rules and ignored current procedures. It is simply inappropriate. We believe that it is incompatible with its internal procedures, because it is necessary to allow people to play a deliberative role, it is democracy.

It must be ensured, according to him, that they have the capacity to understand what they vote on. The pursuit therefore lies in the fact that the standards on which they voted were not those presented to the public before the board of directors.

Clearly, the prosecution does not concern the subjects but rather the way in which these changes were presented to the vote by the superintendent, Ryan Walters.

Whatever, it was recently rejected by a judge who considers that the complaint did not quote any law or rule which would have been raped before the new program was approved by the legislative body. Mike Hunter refutes the argument and intends to appeal this decision.

In the meantime, Erica Watkins does not forfeit, but her immediate appeals are rather limited. I will opt for non-participation with regard to my children, she says. The non-participation clauses were examined by the lawyers who helped us, and we use the laws adopted in 2014 and 2015 in the Oklahoma’s rights charter.

Initially, this law was adopted because parents did not want their children to be subject to sex education and indoctrination qualified as liberal By some of them, in classrooms.

And now we use this law for social studiesshe explains, smiling. It’s a huge problem, but I find it fun, to be honest.
