Built in 1977, the Rocher sports center is currently the subject of a major renovation. Objective: modernize its infrastructure, improve its energy performance and offer optimal reception conditions to the different users and users. The renovation project was designed and carried out by the Architecture Office Architram in Renens. Voted by the municipal council in September 2023, a credit of 22.3 million francs made it possible to finance this vast project, which will be finalized in December.
The works relate in particular to:
- The sports hall : reconstruction of facades and roofs, installation of effective sun protection, creation of a new emergency exit;
- The entrance hall : replacement of heating and ventilation systems, complete repair of the envelope;
- the refreshment bar : redevelopment and creation of an outdoor terrace;
- The Dojo : renovation of the thermal envelope.
At the same time, external arrangements are undergoing requalification in order to offer a more user -friendly framework and to promote biodiversity. Vegetalization of the courtyard with tree plantations is underway, while the wooded cord along ASSE will be renatured and equipped with leisure facilities.
A completely redesigned swimming pool
The pool hall housing two basins-one 25 m and the other non-nings-has been fully rebuilt, with new heat production and ventilation systems. As of September 1, the primary establishment Nyon Léman, including the schools of the city center, the sunset, the peace, the Tots of goose and the rock, can again organize swimming lessons there. This represents 43 classes from 3p to 7p, or around 860 students. The reception of clubs is scheduled for early 2026. The public continues to be welcomed at the Cossy swimming pool.
Particular attention has been paid to accessibility, with specific developments for people with disabilities and seniors. The site is also preparing to welcome future health sports programs.
Energy performance: a major advance
The Rocher sports center achieves a major advance in terms of energy transition. From now on, all buildings are equipped with triple glazing and high -performance solar protection. Buried volumes, such as changing rooms, benefit from enhanced thermal insulation.
Thanks to this work, the power required for heating is reduced by around 40%. In addition, 180 m² of thermal sensors installed on the pool roof will provide up to 100 kW depending on the sunshine. A surface of 410 m2 Photovoltaic solar panels installed on the roof of the gyms will cover more than 25% of the electricity consumption of the swimming pool and its technical installations. Result: an energy saving estimated at 60% compared to current consumption. Note that the Rocher site is today the second largest energy consumer in the municipal building stock. It will benefit from a heat production of a minimum of 85% of renewable origin by the summer of 2026.
