A landslide occurred on Monday evening in Saint-Nicolas, in the Zermatt valley, after a violent thunderstorm. The casting covered the road and the railway. The SaaS valley has experienced a similar spell.
The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn railway company has announced the traffic interruption between Zermatt and Kalpetran. A replacement service has been set up between Täsch and Randa, but not to Zermatt.
In the parallel valley of SaaS, another mud flow overflowed on the cantonal road in Eisten. The valley is thus cut from Stalden.
The bad weather also affected other parts of the Haut-Valais. The firefighters also intervened in Raron and Naters due to damage caused by the storm.
The Haut-Valais media Pomona.ch reports that several torrential lavas have occurred in Saint-Nicolas. The bridge over the Blatbach torrent was swept away.
The Valais police at the beginning of the evening had no information on any injured.
These alpine valleys are experiencing repeated disturbances. In April, large snowfalls had cut the SaaS valley from the world. In September, a landslide in Eisten also imposed the closure of the cantonal road. At the beginning of the summer, the violent bad weather that had touched the whole region and Ticino had cost a person in Saas-Gundund.
Three fire starts
Air Zermatt also received three alarms for three fire debut almost simultaneously in Saint-Nicolas, Blatn Bei Naters and Oberems. The lights were able to be quickly under control, the airline said in a statement.
