Nova flowed happy days with her owners in Myrtle Beach (South Carolina), where she used to dip behind the house. This is precisely what this female German shepherd did on Sunday. But she never returned. Worried, Bob Carnes and his family spent hours looking for their four -legged companion, in vain. They ended up consulting the images captured by their surveillance camera, and what they saw them broke their hearts.
The recording shows Nova wandering happily in the garden, then heading to the banks of the network of intracoastal waterway channels. A few seconds later, the dog disappears in the water, a noise of splash and a final barring barking the tranquility of the place: Nova has just been attacked by an alligator. “When we watched the video, what had happened left no doubt. She left in a few seconds, ”says WMBF News Bob Carnes, collapsed. The American says that Nova has been living with him for six years and that she had friendship with a duck.
Bob is now working to prevent his neighbors from the presence of dangerous reptiles in the area: if they can attack a solid German shepherd of 38 kilos, no one is safe. “She was much stronger than my grandson or my granddaughter in terms of speed, and she was heavier. You have to be very careful when you let children play at the water’s edge (…) it can happen very quickly, “warns the inhabitant. The American must now resolve to continue without her beloved nova: “She was more than a dog. He was a family member, ”he concludes.
