Local rescuers reported on Monday of 51 dead in Israeli army operations through the Gaza Strip.
According to the Civil Defense Gazaouie, an Israeli air strike alone left 24 dead and dozens of wounded in a café-internet by the sea of the city of Gaza, called “al-Baqa”.
“There are always a lot of people there, which offers drinks, spaces for families and internet access,” says Ahmed Al-Nayrab, 26, who was on a beach nearby with friends when he heard a “huge explosion”.
“It was a massacre,” he continues. “I saw pieces of body flying everywhere, shredded and burned corpses. A scene to freeze the blood. Everyone was screaming. The wounded screaming with help, families were crying for their dead,” he said.
The civil defense had announced earlier in the day the death of 27 people in several strikes and fire from the Israeli army.
Among them, 11 were “killed near aid distribution points in the center and the south of the territory,” said Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for this first aid organization.
Difficult information to verify
Given the restrictions imposed on the media in the Gaza Strip and the difficulties of access to the field, AFP is not able to independently verify the balance sheets and affirmations of the Civil Defense.
Asked about the facts reported by the spokesperson, the Israeli army replied that he was unable to comment them.
The latter issued a new evacuation order for the north of the coastal strip on Monday, where the city of Gaza is located, warning the inhabitants of the expansion of operations in this region.
