The Galaxy S26 Ultra could say goodbye to S Pen, but for a very good reason

Samsung could remove the stylus integrated into its Premium smartphone from the next Galaxy S26 Ultra. The central idea would be to increase the capacity of the battery.

For four years, the trademark of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and its predecessors have been, among other things, in the presence of an S PEN. This stylus is integrated directly into the smartphone, can be stored in its shell and allows access to a whole range of productivity features.

Last year, Samsung, however, showed the first signs of feverishness on the subject, by removing the Bluetooth from his S Pen, making him in fact a little less interesting than that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. We now learn, through a leaker officiating on Weibo that Samsung could abandon the S Pen from the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Leaker in question Setsuna Digital, had been reliable on predictions concerning the iPad Pro 2024, but apart from that, it has few leaks to its credit. It is therefore necessary to take this information with the necessary tweezers.

A calendar that seems very precipitated for Samsung

If you closely follow the adventures of Korean, you will notice that this prediction does not necessarily correspond to its habits. Samsung is rather careful and tends to avoid too radical and sudden changes. After all, it took him 2 years to formalize the end of the Note range, which was more or less absorbed by the Galaxy S22 Ultra at the time.

That said, with the arrival of carbon silicon batteries, that Samsung does not seem to be ready to integrate into its products, the Galaxy S25 Edge testifies, the brand must find a solution to increase the capacity of the batteries of its devices. However, the S-PEN takes a significant place that would unlock the 5000 mAh counter, adopted from the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

At the same time, the Galaxy S Ultra differs from all its competitors, ultra premium smartphones, notably due to the integration of this famous S Pen. By removing it, the brand takes the risk of becoming a manufacturer “like the others”.

If the S Pen is removed, that would not mean automatically that the next Galaxy S26 Ultra could not use one. Indeed, it could continue to endure a stylus sold separately, as is already the case for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The folding smartphone in book format offers a range of accessories that allow you to carry the S Pen with you on a daily basis. Enough to gain space under the hull for those that the stylus does not interest, while offering the option.
