The vice-governor of the North Kivu province proceeded, Friday, August 22, at the official launch of the vaccination campaign against polio in the city of Beni, provisional capital of the province. This operation targets children from zero to fifty-nine months.
According to Prisca Kamala Luanda, adviser to the governor in charge of health and education, the number of children concerned can only be determined after the counting and premarketing households. Several entities of the province having been affected by insecurity, many households have been moved, thus complicating the initial estimate.
“In the province of North Kivu, the campaign will take place in two stages: the first, dedicated to awareness, enumeration and premarketing households, will take place from August 23 to 26, 2025. The second, devoted to vaccination proper, will be held from August 28 to 30. During these three days, all children from zero to fifty-nine months will receive two drops of vaccine to protect them from this disease ”, said Ms. Kamala Luanda.
The vaccination teams will carry out a door-to-door in order to reach all the children concerned, even those already vaccinated or suffering.
“Dear parents and children’s guards, you are invited to prepare your children and present them to vaccinators so that they receive the vaccine for free, even if they are sick or have already been vaccinated during the routine. Let’s act together to protect our children from polio ”, she launched.
