In the town of Durbuy, distribution water is no longer drinkable on a part of the barvous network. Bacterial pollution was detected on Sunday. Several analyzes were carried out as well as purges. The situation should normalize by the end of the day. In the meantime, a distribution of water bottles is organized at 2 p.m. in the Barvaux Communal Park.
Contamination has been located. It does not come from a catchment but from a home. “Without a mandate and without the authorization of the owner, the agents of the SWDE could not return to the house” Details the bourgmestre of Durbuy, Philippe Bontemps. “But the most likely hypothesis, and it is almost certain, is the contamination of the distribution network by rainwater via the connection of a rainwater circuit to the distribution network”.
It is strictly prohibited to connect a rainwater circuit to that of distribution, even with an anti-return valve system. The two installations must be separated to avoid bacterial contamination. Water in rainwater collectors is very rich in bacteria. In the case of Barvaux, the distribution network has been contaminated, making water not drinking, on around thirty streets.
