Users of the rail line between Friborg and Bern find their good habits on Monday morning. Since 4:00 am, trains have been circulating again normally on this section, after eight weeks of work to modernize the infrastructure carried out by SBB.
The safety facilities have been raised and subject to operating tests. Test races also took place on Sunday, SBB said on Sunday in a statement.
Finishing work will still take place for a few weeks on this line, ‘with occasional repercussions for customers, especially in the evening’.
From June 27 to August 25, more than 200 people worked on these sites in the amount of 90 million, the SBB recalled. Among the main achievements are the complete renovation of Schmitten station (FR) or the refurbishment of 29 switches.
The railway company stresses that the substitution bus service worked well during these eight weeks and was appreciated by users. Five replacement lines have been set up, with some 70 buses and more than 150 drivers.
