The tension is lively at IKEA around remuneration and working conditions. Several hundred employees of the furniture giant went on strike Tuesday in several cities in France, to denounce in particular a “degradation of social dialogue” with management.
The movement brought together “25 % of strikers on the workforce present” in 19 stores, according to Abdelkader Mekki Daouadji, CFDT delegate. No brand has closed but setbacks took place in certain services of the Swedish company, which has 36 stores and 12,000 employees in France.
Social achievements “questioned”
The CFDT, the CGT and FO denounced in a press release the “posture” of the Management as part of the compulsory annual negotiations (NAO) on the remuneration. They point to an absence of collective increase in wages, working conditions “clearly degradation” and social skills “questioned”.
Ikea France considers that the Nao meetings “took place in accordance with the social calendar”.
