This Wednesday, the Women’s Euro begins in Switzerland. And after the first two games in group A, the Balgic will enter this Thursday.
It is with a duel against Italy that the tournament will start for the Red Flames. An adversary who recalls good memories to Tine de Caigny since she had scored the only goal of the meeting between Belgium to Italy in 2022. She had thus sent the Belgians to the quarter -finals of the competition.

“It was great. I have thought about it a lot lately, and I would sign to be entitled to the same scenario. I expect the Italian women to be thirsty for revenge, but we must above all focus on ourselves. We want to win this first match,” explains the RTBF player.
A confident Caigny tine compared to the last euro: “The level has increased well for three years, even if several players were already there.” Compared to 2022, the workforce has evolved, “with new girls. And women’s football has progressed a lot overall. The intensity is higher, but it is everywhere.”

For her part, Marie Destruyer talks about her team teammates: “I have some Inter teammates who are part of the Italian selection. And other teammates will also be attending the meeting. It will therefore be special.”
“I do not personally know all the Italian players, but there are a lot of familiar faces. I have guided our defense a little in her way of playing, but of course, it is above all the coach who works on this point. I do not know the Italian team much either,” concluded Destruyer.
After Italy, there will be Spain and Portugal. The group of flames is therefore not simple but a qualification for the rest of the tournament is not to be excluded if everything is set up well.
