In 2024, participants in professional rehabilitation measures of disability insurance (AI) were three times more numerous than in 2008, and 60% of them were employable at the end of these, said the Federal Office of Social Insurance (OFAS) on Wednesday.
AI saw the number of people accessing professional reintegration measures increase last year, reaching nearly 57,700 people, According to figures from the Confederation. These measures aim to ensure that people affected in their health are trying to reintegrate the job market before they can claim a disability pension.
Faster return to work objective
The stated objective is to promote a return to work as quickly as possible, just to avoid a higher disability situation. Among the 41,000 people who completed their rehabilitation in 2024, the AI announced that 46% of them were able to find the primary labor market.
The remaining 54% are divided into two camps: those which are able to find a job, but which have not yet found a place, and those still potentially eligible for the AI rent. Nearly 60% of beneficiaries of the program were again available on the job market.
As a reminder, approximately 4% of the insured population is beneficiary of AI, a stable figure since 2018 according to Inclusion Handicap. More than half of disability cases concern mental diseases.
