The Swiss and French armies train in intense fights
Leclerc and shielded French tanks are currently exercising real fire on Swiss territory. A first for certain equipment.

Until November, Swiss and French tanks and artillery training together in Switzerland, several high intensity combat training sequences. These simulate a realistic scenario which will allow the army to learn lessons in order to strengthen its defense capacity. These joint exercises are organized within the framework of cooperation which links the two countries.
At the end of March, French soldiers of 13e Engineering Regiment have already come to train in spends (Place d’Armes de Genève). Since May, the Battalion of Sappers of Tan 1 Swiss has been training with two French units (501e fighting regiment and 13e Genie regiment) in the shooting places of Hinterrhein (GR) and Wichlen (GL). These exercises must promote interoperability. The arrival in mid-May of training tanks And French armored vehicles on certain highways had also surprised residents.

In recent days, the horsemen of the 501 of the French army, on their brand new renovated Leclerc (XLR) Chars frames, and the sappers of the 13, supported by their griffon armored vehicles, have nevertheless been able to make real fire on courses of the Swiss army.
The XLR shots were made with arrow shells in an interarmes setting and in a new mountain environment. The arrow shell is a high velocity projectile of a formidable precision capable of piercing the most resistant shields thanks to its only kinetic energy. The 13the Genius regiment was able to make real ball shots for the first time with the Griffon in motion, allowing the sappers of the 13 to acquire new shooting techniques.
The joint activities will continue until November on Hinterrhein’s shooting place with the training of the Swiss mechanized battalion 17 and the 5e regiment of French dragons and, then, with the Swiss artillery group 1 and the 40e French artillery regiment which will train together at Simplon.
International cooperation

It thus retains organizational and structural flexibility necessary for international cooperation in the event of armed conflict without derogating from the principle of neutrality. To continue to strengthen the defense capacity of the Swiss army, it is essential to cooperate with other armed forces. ”
