With the scorching heat, the water points are taken by storm. Lake, Rhône, swimming pools and paddles make people happy. But not everywhere … on the side of the left bank, two of the three paddles of the city of Geneva are under construction. A situation that annoys more than one. “It’s great anything. What an idea to do this now. An unusable paddling pool in summer, we walk on the head, plague a Geneva. Since this spring, the Bertrand parks and the barn pools have undergone major renovations to comply with their technical premises.

“It is still crazy that the authorities are not able to organize themselves to ensure that these places are accessible when we need it most,” regrets a father.

Only possible timing

“We regret of course that the opening is delayed, all the more in a context of high heat,” says Anna Vaucher, of the Environment Department. That said, the start of work depends on the vote of the credit to the municipal council and also requires weather conditions and adapted temperatures, especially for the drying of certain materials. It was therefore not possible to consider another timing. These works, which could in no case be rejected, is necessary for security issues and in order to guarantee optimal water quality. ”

Next openings

At Bertrand Park, the reopening is scheduled for next Wednesday. For the barn, we will have to wait until the week of July 21.

In the canton of Vaud, several paddles have definitely closed, reports the RTS. Budgets to bring them to safety standards, always more restrictive, have not been validated. At the end of the lake, the work cost nearly 4 million francs.
