Spanish national police arrested a Leganées entrepreneur, a city in the Madrid agglomeration, accused of having distributed decay meat and to have tried to improve its appearance using chemicals such as sulfites and bleach.
The meat was distributed in several regions of the country : In Castille-et-León, Estremadure and Murcia.
The businessman also hadEncounted to foreign workers in an irregular situation, to whom he imposed days of work going up to 26 hours continuous for very low wages, which he sometimes did not even pay.
He is prosecuted for four crimes: against public health, against workers’ rights, electricity fraud and public finances.
The smell of decaying meat was “perceptible from the outside”
The investigation, according to 3/24was opened following a complaint from the Spanish Labor and Social Security Inspectorate, concerning the working conditions in which employees worked.
On the day of the arrest, the nacional police and the health service of the Madrid community searched the business and discovered a large amount of damaged meat in the cold rooms. “The foul odor was noticeable from the outside”, write our colleagues. A tyrannical boss
