Discover the 10 medical clinics that have given the most appointments for a year

A dozen medical clinics have managed to offer more than 100,000 meetings in the past year, when accessing a family doctor remains difficult in Quebec.

It is a Quebec clinic that leads this list compiled by The newspaper From data from the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS).

“It is flattering that the figures give us reason on the quantity, but I am convinced that the quality is also there for our patients,” rejoices the Dre Chantal Guimont, medical director of Maclinique Lebourgneuf in Quebec, who has offered 185,000 medical appointments for a year.

Over 30 doctors, 12 hours a day

The lead peloton is made up of large clinics, generally with 30 to 50 family doctors. Their opening hours are also more extensive, up to 12 hours a day, even weekends.

These clinics are more accessible for patients, in particular thanks to an effective appointment system, dozens of doctors stationed every day, sorting nurses and nearby specialists.

Two well-being medical centers appear in the ten best establishments in our record. For the founder Henri Boulila, success lies in centralized management where administrative paperwork is reduced to a minimum for doctors.

“I no longer bring paper to the secretary, everything is done electronically,” says the Dr Jean-Daniel Lalande, also medical director.

More efficient than urgency

“Urgentologists who work here tell me that they see more patients at the clinic than when they are in an emergency,” he adds, praising the support of nurses on site, but also the radiology or blood tests, who accelerate access to care for patients.

For its part, the Dre Guimont praises the work for two with the nurses, as a dentist would do with a dental hygienist. The nurses also carry out part of the medical examination and the doctor validates the diagnosis and prescribed a medication if necessary, thus seeing up to double patients.

Clinics open to consultations without an appointment also have a larger volume of traffic. For several places, the key to this success is in the quick appointment system (See the other text).

“What works best is when you put the resources together to have more professionals,” explains the Dr Samer Daher, President of the Montreal Omnipractian Doctors Association, while stressing that the largest clinics necessarily require greater management.
