A teenager was killed and four others injured in the accident of their car followed by the police near Montceau-les-Mines, when their vehicle went out, announced the prefecture of Saône-et-Loire.
The accident whose circumstances “remain to be clarified” occurred around 5 am in the town of Gourdon, while the vehicle was “followed remotely” by the police, she said in a press release. The five victims, one of whom was driving, are about 15 years old, according to the prefecture which does not give more details.
The hospitalized driver
About twenty firefighters were mobilized on site. The deceased victim is a 13-year-old passenger, according to the Chalon-sur-Saône prosecution. The driver, 15, and the other passengers have been hospitalized but their lives are not in danger, he said.
A judicial investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the drama. The driver of the vehicle would have refused to comply with a control of the police, according to the departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS) cited by France 3 Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
