15 projects under study for mobility in Ile-de France

The State, the Île-de-France region and Île-de-France Mobilités are involving the studies of 15 projects to reduce territorial inequalities and meet the challenges of the mobility of tomorrow.

Representing the State and the Ile-de-France region, the members of the launch committee, chaired by Marc Guillaume, prefect of the Ile-de-France region, prefect of Paris and Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region, president of Île-de-France Mobilités, officially kicking the study program for the projects of extension and creation of metro lines.

A strategic program
Registered in the Environmental Master Director of the Île-de-France Region (SDRIF-E), this study program piloted by Île-de-France Mobilités, represents an amount of more than € 6 million and relates to 15 extensions or metro lines creation planned by the SDRIF-E. Funded at 70 % by the Île-de-France region and 30 % by the State (within the framework of the State Planning Contract Region-CPER), aims to identify the mobility needs of the territories in order to improve their service in public transport. In addition, studies will prioritize projects according to the criteria of opportunity, technical feasibility and socio-economic relevance.

“The State is actively committed to improving mobility in Île-de-France. In the coming years, the commissioning of the Grand Paris Express lines will have an unparalleled transport network in the world. To assess the developments to be continued in the middle term on the Ile -de -France network, the strategic study we are launching today, must make it possible to prioritize future structuring projects on the basis of objective criteria of technical feasibility, territorial impact and financial sustainability ” – Marc Guillaume, prefect of the Ile-de-France region, prefect of Paris.

Large consultation with the actors of the territory
In order to share the objectives and challenges of these projects in terms of mobility and urban development, the launch committee brought together the main stakeholders: elected officials of the communities concerned, transport operators and infrastructure managers (RATP, SNCF network, SGP), Ile -de -France urban planning agencies and representative of transport users. If these projects aim to complete the structuring effects of the Grand Paris Express and to build a more connected and more balanced Île-de-France, the Committee has made elected officials aware that all projects cannot be carried out by 2040.

“This study program is a compass for the mobility of tomorrow. It will prioritize the most useful, urgent and most effective metro projects to meet the needs of Ile -de -France and to correct service inequalities. It is a strong planning act at the service of a more equitable and more accessible region ” – VAlérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region and Île-de-France Mobilités.
