The vario of the monkey or MPOX continues its progression in Guinea. The National Health Safety Agency (ASSS) has revised the assessment of confirmed cases throughout the national territory.
A technical meeting with the various actors involved in the fight against MPOX disease was held this Thursday, July 3, 2025 in Conakry. On this occasion, the acting director general of the ANSS, Dr. Sory Condé, announced: “Specifically concerning MPOX disease, the cumulative data presented today by the team cover the period from June 1 to today, it appears that 49 confirmed cases have been recorded.”
He then clarified that: “All are currently taken care of by our teams. Note that a patient has already been healed, while the others continue their treatment. No death has been reported so far.
For Dr Sory Condé, the return of the Mpox epidemic to Guinea is due to the rapprochement with the Sierra Leone. “The situation in this country is such that, out of 100 samples analyzed, 80 come back positive. With such a high positivity rate (80 %), community transmission is very intense. Taking into account the mobility of populations between our two countries, this justifies the importation of cases that we are currently observing,” he said.
