Naughty calls are over … or almost: Apple is hunting for nudity on video, how?


With the future iOS 26 update, Apple introduces a functionality that automatically interrupts video calls if an image deemed sensitive, like nudity, is detected. A measure intended above all to protect minors, reports the specialized Gizmodo site.



The new version of iOS will bring an option called “Sensitive content” for calls FaceTime. Its operation is based on an algorithm capable of detecting in real time the presence of nudity in the image. If this is the case, the video call is immediately paused and an alert message is displayed on the screen: “Audio and video are on a break because you could show something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you can end the call. »»

It is nevertheless possible to resume communication manually, if the participants decide to continue the exchange.





To protect young people, Apple advances

According to Gizmodo, this technology is based on the machine learningautomatic learning embedded in the iPhone. The analysis is done locally, without transmission of images to remote servers, which would allow preserve the confidentiality of exchanges.

Apple insists on respect for privacy. All analyzes are carried out on the device itself, without sending data to the Cloud. Thus, no image or sequence is stored or shared, and users would remain protected against any embarrassing data leak.




However, it remains to be seen whether this detection will be activated by default. The final version of iOS 26 has not yet been deployed, this information has not yet been confirmed. In all cases, users who do not wish to be interrupted can deactivate the function in the front -time settings. It will suffice to uncheck the “sensitive content” option to continue using the filtering application.
