Hiking offers reviewed in the Lötschental valley

Buses are now available to hikers who wish to rally Kummenalp or Faldumalp from Wiler. The offer is set up to boost tourism in the Lötschental valley after the collapse of the Birch Galcier over Blatten.

After the Birch glacier’s landslide above Blatten, tourism officials in the Valais valley of Lötschental are trying to attract visitors with new hiking offers. They bet on a better service of these areas.

Since July 5, minibuses have been going from Wiler to Kummenalp and Faldumalp, west of the Lauchernalp station and also ensure the return. This offer is mainly intended for people who do not wish to walk for four to five hours, said Mathias Fleischmann, director of the Lauchernalp and Lötschental Marketing Mechanics on Tuesday at a press conference.

Usually, the crest path between Lauchernalp and Fafleralp is the most popular route. But after the closure of this path is closed due to the end of May, tourism professionals looked for an alternative. ‘The demand is very encouraging: during sunny days, we display practically complete’, rejoiced Mathias Fleischmann.
