Two Wallabies escaped from their Belgian enclosure, in Mouscron, have aroused the excitement for several days until the agglomeration of Lille, on the other side of the border. One of them was captured by French firefighters.

“Two marsupials suddenly decided to discover the world around them, far from the plains of Australia, closer to the urban jungle,” said firefighters from the French department of the North.
Captured in a garden
It was in Wattrelos, in a commune in the northern border of Mouscron, that the first runaway was captured on Tuesday evening.
He had ventured into a garden on the ground floor of a residential building. The accommodation occupants warned the firefighters who deployed “an anti-escape net”. But it took two hours to get it into a cage in order to bring it back to Belgium, according to the story of the firefighters.
The possession of such exotic animals is authorized in Belgium as long as they are fed, neat and are not victims of mistreatment.
The fugue took place while their owner was on vacation abroad and had entrusted the surveillance of animals to a neighbor, according to the Belgian police.
