The question of the day – The Danish and his team could never get out of the shadow of Tadej Pogacar. For lack of means, cohesion and determination.
The observation is final. In 19 stages, Jonas Vingegaard only nibbled a few centimeters in Tadej Pogacar and two seconds. The Danish outstripped his rival in the sprints of Dunkirk (of a place during 3e step) and Laval (four -seater during the 8e step) and blown up an honor in extremis (2e) with a breath at La Plagne, this Friday (19e stage).
Tadej Pogacar was indeed (and for a long time) the best of this Tour. After dominating and taking off, the Slovenian checked a lot and offered a little air to the race that needed it. Visma and its leader had toured an XXL lens. The preparation and condition were optimal. And the Tour State the sole objective of the Danish (when the Slovenian hunts the classics and everything that can pass in any season). Jonas Vingegaard and his Visma team would have liked to be able to a little smoked the Slovenian. But the yellow jersey has made a point of honor to leave them only the bitter taste of defeat and frustration after two resounding failures of the leader of Visma (during the Caen time trial and the arrival in Hautacam).

Visma has, according to its habit, deployed ambitious strategies. In vain. The Dutch team had neither legs, cohesion, inspiration, nor men to reign. No flame seemed to live a group stuck away from the performances of the victorious towers 2022 and 2023. Like Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard never leaves the first two places in the general classification on the Tour (2e in 2021 and 2024; 1is in 2022 and 2023). But, in 2025, once again Dauphin, he clearly located below his rival. And does not even have the pleasure of a stage victory to soften the observation.
Throughout the round, Visma against Pogacar, it was intention against solidity, helplessness against control. The Dutch team, posed in front of its limits, will have to think, reinvent itself, probably renew itself for the next rounds. The team and its leader quickly seemed to be resolved in second place. Far, very far from the starting ambition. A huge disappointment with regard to the intentions displayed.
